I was born in Germany and came to Canada with my family in 1951. My parents were Christians and I remember attending a Baptist Church in Germany. After arriving in Canada, we settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba where we attended the McDermot Avenue Baptist Church. When I was about nine years old, during evangelist meetings being conducted at our church, I placed my faith in Jesus Christ as my personal Savior.
In the spring of 1960, my parents, brothers and I moved to California. I worked and studied there until the fall of 1962, when I began my studies at Winnipeg Bible College, graduating in May 1965 with a BRE degree.
Following graduation, I was married to Gloria Stender. My wife comes from the Kipling area of Saskatchewan. We have two children, Karen and Dwight. Karen was married in April 1990 to Doug Nielsen. they live in Regina and have three children (Tyler, Brittany & Christen). Our son, Dwight was married in October 1995 to Crystelle Hartley. Dwight and Crystelle also live in Regina and they have two children (Jaelyn & Terrace).
Our ministry began at the Moosehorn Baptist Church (1965-67 & 1970-73) in Moosehorn, Manitoba. I was ordained by the Moosehorn Church (North American Baptist Conference) on November 18th , 1966. We were involved in pastoral ministries for eleven years serving two other churches; Ebenezer Baptist Church (1973-74) in Ebenezer , SK and Grant Park Baptist Church (1974-78) (now Whyteridge Baptist Church) in Winnipeg, MB. In 1978 I started my ministry with Child Evangelism Fellowship of Manitoba, where I served seven years.
In 1985 I left CEF of Manitoba to complete my studies in the Masters’ program at Briercrest Bible College in the Graduate Studies Division. I graduated in the fall of 1986 with my Master of Arts Degree, with a program in Administration. At Briercrest Bible College I served in t he Public Relations Department for four years.
In the fall of 1989 I began my ministry with Far East Broadcasting Canada, as Regional Director , serving in the three Prairie Provinces as well as the BC Interior. I have always had a great interest in missions. Serving with FEBCanada gives me the opportunity to promote world missions through the ministry of missionary radio.
It is my privilege to keep in touch with friends of Far East Broadcasting. As opportunities and time permit I share the missionary challenge in Churches, Mission Conferences and various other personal contacts. To promote the ministry of FEBCanada I also plan and conduct approximately 45 annual Friendship Dinners in my region.
